Late El ride, walk to

Humboldt…I’m easily lost.

We both are tourists.

The Roadtrip: Waterloo

The land flattens through

Minnesota, Iowa.

Corn, everywhere!

And in Waterloo,

swimming contest victory,

and late night ice cream.

The Roadtrip: South Dakota

South Dakota - an
unsettling blur: Presidents'
heads, changing landscape.

Peace comes with morning;
we find each other, having
been lost the night through.

The Roadtrip: Wyoming

Peaceful Wyoming:
mountains rise, majestic;
snow falls lazily.

The sparseness enchants;
We stretch our legs, wiggle our
toes, breathe, and relax.

The Roadtrip: Idaho

Lava Hot Springs, where
we soak in mineral pools,
steam twisting slowly.

Midnight bubble bath
drowns our travel weary aches;
we laugh, like children.

The Roadtrip: Salt Lake City

Our day on the salt.
The crystals crush between my
fragile, naked toes.

The Roadtrip: Eastern Nevada

Nevada still. Full
of brothels, gambling, and the
creepy Red Garter.

We sleep one more night
in this land of excess; when
morning breaks: Utah.

The Roadtrip: Reno

Reno: We fight, make
up, run out of gas...and leave
our demons behind.

We wake up renewed,
forging forward through desert,
bursting with fresh joy.

San Francisco: We

set out, full bellies, the sun

dripping behind us.
